Biography

The multi award winning flutist and polifacetic artist Andrea Amat performs all over the worls for a huge range of audiences. Her virtuosity and charismatic charater on stage has taken her to the U.S.A, Australia, Latin America, Arab states of the Persian Gulf and many European countries. Since 2015 Andrea is a Headliner Entertainer on luxury cruise lines. Andrea Amat plays with a golden Muramatsu 9k.

Education

She was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1989. After studying at the Valencia Professional Conservatoire where she won numerous prizes and competitions she went on to finish her Master in Performance studies at London’s Royal College of Music supported by a Leverhulme Mentorship, studying with Jaime Martín, Sue Thomas and Simon Channing.

She has performed with the distinguished Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt and in recitals in the Royal Albert Hall, Elgar Room (2013) and Cadogan Hall, Rising Star series (2013). She was selected by Royal College of Music to take part in the Castleton Festival, conducted by Lorin Maazel.

In 2013 Andrea won First prize in the RCM Concerto Concerto Competition which led to a highly acclaimed performance of the Ibert Flute Concerto with the RCM Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Roger Norrington in January 2014.

Training and lectures

She has studied and performed masterclasses with: Antonio Arias, I. Artaud, Antonio Núez, Fernando Gómez, Vicens Prats, Salvador Martínez, Raffaele Trevisani, Emmanuel Pahud, Magdalena Martínez, Philippa Davies, Julien Beaudiment,  Sophie Cherrier, Paul Edmund Davies, Gareth Davis and James Galway.

  • Selected as “RCM Rising Star 2013” by Royal College of Music to perform recitals in the Elgar Room of Royal Albert Hall and Cadogan Hall (2013)
  • Selected by Royal College of Music to participate in Castleton Festival (USA, June-July 2013) under Lorin Maazel direction
  • RCM Concerto Competition, whose prize was a concert as solist with the RCM Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Roger Norrington -J. Ibert-Concerto for Flute and Orchestra- (2013)
  • Ciutat de Xàtiva National Contest, category A (2012)
  • Juventudes Musicales’s Permanent Contest. With this contest, she won four musical tours around Spain, as solist (2011)
